    Peugeot 407 2.0HDi 136bhp 2007 - Intermittent power loss # Archived Message

    Hi all,

Have an ongoing issue with the above car in that its exhibiting an intermittent power loss, almost like someones removed the turbo - it feels really flat! Other symptoms include an instant wish to stall when pulling out of junctions and an increase in fuel consuption.
I've checked all the vacuum pipes and tested with a vacuum gauge and all appear to be fine. The car has been to 2 Peugeot dealers 13 times now (long story - dont ask....) and despite changing the boost solenoid valve they cant find the cure either! It feels to me like it's the EGR valve randomly opening and flooding the inlet with exhaust gasses. The EGR has been temporarilly disconnected / unplugged and this seems to make a small improvement, but its still not 100%.

Car is regularly serviced, has ~60K on the clock and has been doing this for around 6 months. Fuel filter has been replaced twice now. The only fault code to ever appear was "EGR butterfly valve - open circuit - intermittent". This concurs with my gut-feeling that the EGR is at fault but Peugeot wont change it due to the cost no doubt (~£290).

Anybody had any similar experiences or offer any insight into the reliability of Pug EGR valves or fuel pump issues?
