Renault Kangoo 1.5DCi 2006 - Intermittent non start - Fixed # Archived Message

    Hi all,

Intermittent non start due to immo.

I have read that if the immo led stays lit it is a communication fault caused by wiring and if it flashes it is a key/reader fault. True or not?

Before I saw it someone suggested to the owner that he try disconnecting the battery, which he did. When I got to it the led was lit all the time but after being on for approx 3 or 4 mins it went out and car started. When it started the dash beeped continuously and the instrument needles cycled in steps. The dash cured itself after a few starts.
Since then it has failed to start twice but each time the immo led has flashed rather than staying on.

Fault code DF067. Clip shows two possible options on this, communication fault or key/reader. For this instance it lists the cause as key/reader.

I have pulled at the wiring beside and under the battery and checked the pins on the reader. No apparent fault.

I am slightly concerned about the reason the led stayed lit for so long when I first saw it. I am thinking that happened because the battery was disconnected. Maybe the UCH was re-booting? Any input on this and the dash symptom appreciated.

I think it is likely to be a key fault. The customer only has one key so I will order another.

Anyone know the cheapest source to order one of these? Blank will do as I can write (clone) the transponder and/or code it as needed. It is the two button remote.

Any common, repairable, faults with this type of key?

    Thanks

    Alan
