I Signed up to the Mazda portal Website and paid 30 Euros to get the information that i needed, It told me that the Level Sensor was under the L/H Rear wheel arch, So we removed the wheel arch cover and found--------- ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

Anyway we looked around and found it on the o/side rear subframe / suspension.

We checked it and found a 5.9V supply, an earth and a 2.5-3volts variable signal, Which didnt appear to have enough variation. So i connected a Potentiometer and gave it a 0.5 - 5V signal and the headlights moved up and down merrily.

I Rang the Mazda Dealers and Priced up a new Level sensor and found that it was a snip at a Mere £333.00 + vat. ( This must be legalised Theft, For a Part that must cost around £20 to manufacture. ?? ) It is similar to a throttle position sensor with a lever attached.

Anyway I put a stable 3.5 volts into the signal wire and had the alignment checked at the local mot station, He said that they were spot on.

So its now up to the customer if he wants to make the car right or try it as it is.

Ohh P,S The information also mentioned that it is also dependent on a VSS signal from the instrument cluster as suspected.

    Thanks Tony.
