    Hi Neil

To try and replicate the noise get the car to opperating temp and carry out a road test, the noise normally happens when changing up into third gear in auto mode try getting the gear to change under acceleration up holl is best or a long strethch of road that you can keep slowing and reaccelerating to get the gearchange. You should hear a squeeking type noise that can sound like a manifold gasket type noise, if this is the case you can get an additive from the main dealer to put in the box to treat the oil and stop this occuring, you will need to drain out about a litre of oil and replace with this additive and road test for a few hundred miles and the noise will normally go.Gearbox oil level is also vital and these boxes do tend to leak from the wiring plug from the mechatronics in the box to the wiring loom so its worth checking this for leaks before you start as this would need rectifying first and needs the sump to come off.
If you need the part number for the additive let me know and I will get it for you when in work monday.
    Good luck

    Steve
