    Renault Traffic Camper Van 1.7 - Weird engine bay fire # Archived Message

    Customer was driving and everything seemed fine, Lost power and when came to halt noticed smoke from engine bay. Fortunately he had the means to put it out and the damage does not seem to great.

    However, The air filter box is completely destroyed but with relatively little damage elsewhere (the worst damage is to the wiring up by the ignition module)



    I am wondering how the fire started. The only thing I can think of looking at it is that flooding of the carb might have allowed fuel to flow down the carb-cover vent pipe into the air-box (the vent pipe is connected to the air-box. No doubt some emission related nonsense! ) where it may have been ignited by a spit-back

    Anybody seen anything like this before on one of these vehicles. I know it is a bit old but...
