Oil light came on shortly followed by increased engine noise.
Reading on the interweb it would appear that this is not an uncommon problem.
I have dropped sump (easy to do) and removed the pick-up strainer which is at least partially blocked by hard sludge (may have been completely blocked when running due to crap being sucked onto the mesh IYSWIM)
Now I am planing to give everything a thorough clean and put it all back together and see how it goes.
My question however is how likely is oil pump failure, may I have to replace this too.
