Jamie, Sorry for the late reply but i have been off line for 2 weeks and have only just seen your post. I had the vehicle in last week and replaced the handbrake module as it had been screeching for some time. As has been said, this comes about from incorrect servicing. As i understand the handbrake needs to be placed into service mode every 15k and adjusted in the manner described backing off 8 clicks then flick the handbrake switch on , twice ,to reset the handbrake and jobs done. Also as has been said it is possible to save the module if it has just started screeching but eventually it strips the gears inside the module and it has to be replaced. I have not heard of the procedure described , which i cannot see would work if it is screeching but would have to reserve an opinion on its ability to set the module into service mode on a working system.
