Hi Phil, OK OK, the freelander 1 was exceptional for it's few problems! If you were unlucky enough to have a petrol one, it is possible to need, engine, gearbox, IRD, viscous coupling, prop & diff all in the space of a couple of years. To be honest the later TD4 freelander 1, when they changed the gear ratio of the IRD box was fairly trouble free. (apart from the odd injector, calipers sticking, diff mounting, fuel pumps etc) Freelander 2 is a totally different beast. apart from a few design faults I think it will be the most reliable Landrover product yet. If I could afford one, I'd buy it. Regards Steve
