Evening all, Got this polo that I bought from a customer that has transmission whine.Not too noisy but sounds like diff whine.It seems that bearing wear on these is very common and if caught early does no other damage.
Normally i would just get my gearbox man to rebuild it,48hrs and £500 and job done! Seeing as I'm not too busy I thought I'd try doing it myself with a fleabay bearing and seal kit!The box is fine except for the slight whine.
Can anyone tell me what sort of job it is? Any special tools needed other than standard hand tools/pullers? Any tricks/advice?
Rebuilt a few boxes before but they were only Mini (original) and that was 20 years ago!!!!
