Will this make it better or worse, a quote below from Electronics Weekly

"The US-based chip maker has introduced its first family of AEC-Q100 Automotive qualified Ethernet devices which are being used by a German manufacturer.

The car manufacturer, believed to be BMW but unconfirmed by the chip company, is expected to be the first of a number of German car companies looking to use EThernet as a cost-effective high speed comms technology.

This places Ethernet as an alternative to buses technologies, such as MOST or Flexray, which have been developed specifically for use in cars."

Apparently it will be used to run non safety systems such as diagnostics, connect to the Internet and run multimedia systems on-board. Its being fitted to top end BMW' s by the end of this year and their whole range by the end of next

Should make life interesting for Autologic
