Hi Panos, as Peter and Shaun says this rep is having you on.

VOSA did state that all MOT stations would have to have a brake tester capable of printing and storing results by 2015. Some VOSA guys interpret this as an ATL brake tester others don't. This was launched at their annual seminars then printed in their Matters Of Testing but has since been 'Defferred' as they call it, so it is not happening now.

If you watch the 'OPTing in' DVD from VOSA the guy on there says 'We hope all MOT stations will be ATL by 2015' but this was produced before the announcement about the 'Defferred' brake tester.

I would imagine this is where the confusion is with your rep.

Just another useful piece of information is instead of calling your local VOSA office (I deal with several and get different answers on equipment from all of them) you can talk to the guys at VOSA who make the policy and advise the local area offices, i.e. from the horses mouth, these guys know the definitive answers as they make the rules on equipment. 01454 453 339. I find John Corcoran particularly down to earth and helpful also Roland Bachelor. As the other guys indicated, this is a far better and safer route than the information from your rep.

    Again I hope this helps.

    Paul
