Hallo everybody. We have a very patient customer with an unreliable Mercedes! This car has an electronic ignition switch.Vehicle will intermittently not crank over.We tested for voltage to starter, When car acts up there is no voltage to starter solenoid. What happens is that you "turn" (electronic) key and car might or might not crank over,or it will start cranking and stop doing it (without firing engine)or it will kind of start/stop crank it.If it refuses to crank often a complete retry(turn key back etc) will be enough to "fix" it. I tried the spare key, but that has made no difference. We have a Bosch KTS scanner but it will not talk to the EIS(electronic egnition switch). We did read out some other systems and initially had quite a few codes.(Can communication fault with engine ECU, and ETC codes:65(etc control module is faulty)-135(can communication is sporadicaly disturbed) 161(etc control module is sporadically faulty). We cleared these codes, and have roadtested car since, none of the codes have returned yet.)The starting problem remains though!(intermittently).I priced a new EIS and it is expensive, not to talk about the procedure/ hassle of coding it! Has any of you Mercedes experts had any experiency with a similar problem?(Put differently, can anyone help me out? Regards
