Thanks for the idea Nigel, made a lot of sense.
Got it back in today, wasn't looking forward to it because no one I know locally has Clip or Dec except unhelpful dealer. Could already see the haze forming in front of service receptionist's eyes.

Then I had one of those lightbulb moments, what about Tech2? No go on Vivaro but straight in as a Movano. This gave me a code each for lock/unlock switch in car no signal. Quite how this can be detected I have no idea, especially as it worked some times. Thinking about it, it wasn't like this before I repaired circuit board. Pulled it out to check my soldering again, no problem there but did notice a VERY fine track missing laquer, copper glow showed up. Resistance test proved it open circuit. Soldered in a link wire. Can only assume my soldering iron overloaded it the first time.

Now the internal switch works correctly and was able to reprogram one remote..but only one.
Back in with Tech2, this has option to program remotes and was successful but only on fourth attempt. Previous three attemts gave message that "conditions were not correct"

Thanks again Nigel, mostly for making me think in a different way.
