Seems to be two subjects running side by side here, Poor quality pattern exhausts and ditto cats. I have not used Bosal for many years now as I thought the quality poor and life short, my factors supply Walker systems which generally I am happy with other than the price. For example, I have a 99 1800 Zafira in at the moment , customer complained of noisy exhaust only fitted 6 months ago when he bought the motor, booms like hell and unpleasant to drive, Bosal system fitted, he won't go back to that dealer for loads of reasons so wanted it replaced. I priced it up for centre and rear boxes with factor supplying Walker and my local Vauxhall main dealer and the dealer came out £50 cheaper !! I can never understand how copy parts can be dearer than originals other than belonging to the trade clubs but come across this pricing conundrum daily. As to cats the reason that pattern cats are smaller is that they are only designed to last for 3 years at most ,hence lower cost, rather than the quoted 10 years for OE cats, I will use pattern cats on pre 2001 motors but never on double o2 sensor cars because of the PO420 comeback.
