Hi Tony many thanks for reply you are right the cooling fan relay is earthed by term 9 on ECM. If you rev engine to working temp term 9 goes to earth but it does not reach the relay so wiring loom problem, going to substitute new wire. It just goes to show how much the dealers know their own product, i suppose Nissan micras hardly give any electrical problems except the fuse box in front of battery, this is why it took me so long to get my own brain into gear thinking this one through thanks again.
