If you have an immo fault the "code" light with key symbol should flash when cranking.
A flashing MIL is a standard indication of a EOBD emission related fault likely to harm the cat.
As Tony says start the car without touching the throttle, wait until the rad fan cuts in and then rev it as hard as you dare (at least 4 times to 4000 rpm +) then take it for a drive for at least 4 - 5 miles so that the PCM can process it's adaption routine.
Have you set the kts to read ISO or OBD protocols? Try both as you can often see a code in one mode and not the other.
