Just a heads up really on poor quality Bosch coils from ECP
A customer had his picasso into a garage for a misfire, they diagnosed a faulty coil on cylinder 4. He took the car away and replaced no 4 coil from ECP (Bosch pencil coil)
There was still a problem with no 4 cylinder misfiring so he asked if I could take a look. I swapped the coil to another cylinder and it looked like the coil was faulty
The only thing I noticed that when you put the connector in and pulled the cap down it usually pulls it in the last few mm. This was not doing that, I lifted the cap and forced the connector into the top of the coil and pulled down the cap, but did not seat very well......but the car started without a misfire
I phoned ECP and told them that it looked like poor manufacturing and they agreed to send another one down....exactly the same, the cap does not locate on the connector properly and pull in the last few mm to connect
So I am guessing that Bosch have these made for them and their name etched into it, the cost of the coil was £19.00
The guys at ECP not really interested, just said all their Bosch parts are genuine
