Have you had a look in ABS Peter, looks to me like its detecting a fault and reducing power.
I did one a while ago and it had a bad wheel speed sensor, no fault code. I had to drive it and watch the speeds, one wheel would jump in speed, so it thought it was over speeding and doing it's job.
You could try switch off the dsc on the dash and drive it to see.
