How did you get on with this one?
I know the post is getting a bit old now but I've only just seen it.
All of the active sensors I've had to test work in a current mode with them switching between 8 and 16mA. I usually disconnect them at the connector then put in one bridge wire and the the meter set to mA in the other wire. Take care not to get the polarity reversed at the sensor as it will die. You can if you wish put a resistor in series instead of the meter and put a 'scope across the resistor, if you used 10 Ohms the voltage should be 80/160mV.
