It is important to program a battery correctly to a vehicle with energy management. If it wasn't why would the manufacturer go to the time & trouble of having this procedure written.
Graham made the point of possible battery damage & theres also the issue of the vehicle having energy management fitted with incorrect data for it to work as a base from - "Rubbish in, Rubbish out".
This is a balanced & complex system, the newer the model the more compplex the system & the more important it is to provide the vehicles energy management system with correct battery data to work with.
Peter, I don't have a login for the Yuasa site, if you find time can you input a 2011 Audi A4 2.0 diesel and see how it gets around the fitting instruction where you input the battery manufacturer into the Energy Management system?
I don't recall seeing Yuasa as an option.
If you click on the link I posted above for Ross Techs video on matching these systems I think VCDS have made it clear in a short video that this is one task that should be performed in a precise manner.
