Defenders with the transit engine are bad for clutch problems done a few now. Don't seem to be up the job and always replace with a genuine clutch. Every time i have removed gearbox one of the springs has fell out or is hanging on for dear life also change slave cylinder as well if you take on job as it is inside the box as you will have no doubt have seen.
