So software programmed to read one side only and emissions will pass (just) with a healthy engine having 50% cleaned.

Being a Ford (and the MB) I wonder if the same manifold is used on US spec'd cars in sunny California with tighter emissions rules both cats are there??

I will look out for these 'twin' cats when MOTing and scope post sensors out of curiosity!
