Its a safety critical component, can you GUARANTEE that it is EXACTLY the same unit across all those vehicles?

How would a court of law feel about you fitting a safety critical component from another manufacturer should it fail and some lawyer finds out that bit was designed for a different vehicle?

Just my thoughts.
