Year of Manufacture *: 2002
I had a customer ring me up and ask me if I could fit a fanbelt that he supplied to his van as his previous one had slipped off. I went and looked at the van to find the power steering pump pulley had a fair bit of play in the bearing and the automatic tensioner was allowing the belt to slap around whilst the engine was running.
I replaced the power steering pump and tensioner now to find that the new belt runs slightly off the new tensioner by about the thickness of a pound coin. Took it for a test drive and it's still the same.
Tried to crank the engine manually and feed the belt back on the tensioner fully but just runs back off the same thickness again.
I have checked and there is no washer behind the tensioner and can only go on one way. Will it settle itself or not? I didn't replace the idlers but it runs perfect on the 2 idlers, power steering pulley, alternator and crank... its just on the new tensioner.
Any ideas?
