Went on a call out last week to a stranded Rover. Plip no longer disabling immobiliser and unable to override using EKA code which I extracted using Autodiagnos. Plip is older two button type.
Replaced battery and also tried second plip, still audible alarm going off when start attempted; obviously no crank. Was also unable to code plips; no response. Vehicle was fine day before and parked up as usual.
Customer asked if immobiliser function could be removed. Called ECU doctor that I have used with good success in the past. Ran part no and told me that yes, function could be programmed out of the MEMS ecu. Once reprogrammed they said that it would be a case of plugging unit straight back in and the vehicle will fire up; that also included no alarms sounding. Guess what...that didn't happen. Am still getting a steady instrument LED, audible warning and no crank. What I didn't try however was putting a supply to the starter just to see if the vehicle would start (don't normally do call outs as not geared up for it hence forgetting the all important tools).
The ECU was also tested for engine function and all was ok. Is there anything else I need to now the immobiliser function has been programmed out to get this vehicle to start on the key. Interestingly, the EKA code accepted when I plugged in the unit.
I would really appreciate any pointers with this one. Tried to call ECU doctor but now closed for xmas and not back until jan.
Many desperate thanks in advance,
Andrew
