I think it is often miss-understood about Autodata (DVD and Online), E3Technical, AutoVista, Haynes Pro, etc you never actually own the software, you are paying an annual licence fee to access it, so just paying for updates is not an option. They are working much the same way as Manufacturers, you pay a subscription to access

This is why Autocom and many other diagnostic companies are working on Internet Based software, because no matter how sophisticated the DVD is, some nerd somewhere in the world will crack it
