Convenience module 8E0 959 433CA held codes 01331 for no comms with drivers door module and also 00963 circuit to tilt sensor faulty. Checked and found main earth wire in drivers door check broken. Repaired that checked drivers door module, plugs and loom all clean dry, checked live data to confirm all locks and latches working and cleared the full vehicle down. (Only 00963 returns int) Replaced the batteries and tried to resync the remotes via ignition and door lock etc then through diag via adapting channels 00 to clean and 21 to recognise keys. When in channel 21 the words KEY & ADJUSTMENT appear in block 1&3 but never change irrespective what buttons are pressed. Convenience units bone dry with no sign of any previous water ingress or damage. Disconnected vehicle battery and tried again, no joy. Earths & feeds good. Everything else works ok live data in measuring blocks, I can do actuator tests and adjust coding etc, it just refuses to see the keys. On the earlier units you could actually see it picking up transmissions from keys even if they weren't programmed but you can't see that on this one.
Having had exactly the same faults previously with a few Golfs & Passats etc in years gone by I picked up a good used unit and fitted it but still have the same problem not seeing the keys. Never had any problems configuring used Convenience modules before but now I'm wondering if there maybe a Login or SKC required for these now. Or maybe you can only programme virginal units now? Incidentally, the used unit has been recoded as per original and the 00963 fault has never appeared which would tend to make me think that the original unit does indeed have a fault in that circuit anyway. Any thoughts or help greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time. Ian.
