I think this will be back as a none starter.
The Injection Pump is not Timed for the point of injection. This is a Common rail High pressure pump.
The locking pin on the High pressure pump is for Timing belt tensioning only. The pump is set on its compression point when the belt is tensioned.
once you have tensioned the belt ,and rotated the engine twice camshaft and crankshaft must be secured in position. It is very difficult to find the securing position of the high-pressure pump hub again. a slight deviation does not influence the engine operation.
So when you checked the valve timing , if the camshaft and crankshaft tools inserted ok But the High pressure pump was out slightly this is quite normal.......
So you have actaully fixed nothing it seems???
