Old ECU had a low 5v rail on or off the car (bench tested unit to be sure it wasn't a car problem, although it is still possible it was originally caused by the vehicle) the old ECU is definitely toast.
The new ECU comms with diagnostics and gives 3 codes
P1000 more driving needed.
P1260 Theft detected engine disabled (Multiscan description) Vehcile immobilised (Autodata description)
P1586 Electronic throttle to PCM comms error
Wasn't intending to worry about the 1586 code until the ECU security was programmed and I still had it!
Customer alleges that he went into a big pothole and the car immediately stopped, not sure if this is Gospel or whether he wanted to try and make it his insurer's problem!
