I did this without a ramp so taking the engine out wasn't really an option for me. But dropping the engine and box through the bottom may prove to be a real time saver

I changed the big end bearings and a conrod on a one of these a while back. I remember it being a pleasure to work on.
There is plenty of room to do the job with the radiator pack out of the way. The only grief I remember it giving me was the inlet manifold bolts are long and thin and take some time to get out in one peice due to corrosion. A couple broke on me but left plenty of protrusion for easy removal after the manifold was removed.
