not 100% sure about the layout of this system compared to the transit connect but ive had a few of those where the alternator plug wires have corroded through between the plug itself and a second connector, located around the radiator area. you have to remove the not-so protective conduit for a visual inspection.
Dont know if this would cause your issue but worth checking.
