Hi Alan-had one of these ages ago (so forgive my memory).Local place did clutch, I'm sure symptoms were same as yours....we pulled in a favour from a toyo tech who told me the clutch actuator needed to be stopped with the tester before the clutch job, then reinitialised after. (sounds like u know this already) he re did ours-job done!
if I can get hold of him I can ask if theres a manual method, but i seem to remember him saying it was diag tool only......will do some hunting tomorrow
