Is it possible that when the original compression test was carried out, the coils were left connected - the spark had no way out but up through the coil electronics & toasted said coil electronics - possibly also causing damage to the ECU??
Although it has a good crank signal, what about the cam signal?
Is there a spark at the plug when not starting?
Are there any DTC's logged after it's none start episodes?
Does unplugging the CTS change the way it behaves (this will usually knock the ECU into ignoring the CTS & providing a calculated default value)
