Year of Manufacture *: 2002
( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: 1.6
This car was brought in because the temp gauge was high, the engine check light was on and the car was in 'limp' mode.
Sorry didn't log the dtc numbers, however the codes were,
Cylinder temperature high
Engine protection activated
Cleared the codes and test drove, on the motorway temperature gauge went up, engine check light came on and engine went into 'limp' mode.
When we looked under the bonnet the engine was exceptionally hot, however the bottom hose was cold.
The garage has since replaced the rad cap, the thermostat, the radiator and the water pump (this was worn) but the same fault is re- occurring.
The car does not loose any water, and it passed a cylinder leak down test.
Not sure where to go from here. Is there any common faults with these cooling systems I should be aware of?
