I thought the same. I even confidently announced to the customer that I would have him running in a few minutes.
Its showing zero keys programmed because I jumped into coding the key without checking the procedure and my memory failed me somewhat. I erased the one key that was coded, because that’s how I remembered the procedure. It did originally show one key programmed. I don’t think that should cause a problem as the procedure wipes all keys anyway?
What I can’t figure out is why the coding fails. Its not a tool issue. Vag Com is very reliable and I tried 3 versions of software with 2 interfaces as well as another scanner.
Its difficult to know what way to test this. I will try and see if I can pick up an inductive signal from the reader later but I won’t know if its good or not as I have never scoped one before. If I can find a spare reader coil I will wire it direct to the cluster and look for another key to try and code.
