I think there is a few reasons for the diesels suffering with the black death, poor quality oils, oils with incorrect additive packages, the intervals are getting longer and longer.
Some of the small journey round town diesel cars just dont get up to temp and suffer alot with condensation in the block
More percentage of egr control or faulty egr systems, we have all seen how caked up the inlet manifold can get and alot of the cak ends up carried in the oil.
