Yes the trans-axle assy needs to be removed from the vehicle and then the torque tube.
Before you remove the bell housing the pivot shaft for the release arm has to be removed,(as far as I can remember this is hidden behind a bolt head and needs a slide hammer)
Part of the exhaust has to be removed before you start the job.
Apart of that it is quite a straight forward job. HTH
