Im just now seeing your post.. When I search for an attorney to help with Mama's claim.. I run into same thing... One attorney said that I had done all the things he would have done already.. and that i was doing fine alone! I have come to the belief that unless you do all the leg work first.. you will not be able to get representation.. it is a lot of tedious research and work they have to do to find those that may have worked with your husband.. and the attorneys probably don't want to spend time and effort doing so..
after almost three years of searching.. I was extremely lucky to find just the one Veteran who recalls Daddy.. without him.. I would have almost nothing to help Mama....
But Steve is right.. you have to post for those who worked in that same area.. and ask them questions about where he would have been and what done... because those who are making the final decisions on your claim.. they are mostly younger and they have no idea what these Veterans did nor where on the base they were located... you have to have it either written out in MOS or a buddy statement... its harder for the widows with minimal information... If we had the benefit of having the Veteran still here with us .. we would get better responses from legal help.. but without the Veteran the attorneys probably feel its too much work ... but your not finished yet.. please don't let them influence your decision to forge ahead...
