The abandonment actually started at the north end of Packard yard in Shelby. Packard yard continued to be utilized by PC and Conrail for the Ford plant traffic. Some of the track is still extant behind some of the current buildings in the area, but be aware if you are exploring in the environs that some of the property owners are not particularly happy with railfans and will make it known...
