Hmmm strange. The ole timer might have got his counties mixed up that was searching for this mill with an old friend of his. They were directed to a side road where they came to a hump in the dirt road they said and according to them they found the old railroad grade that was fairly close to west Branch. I have followed faint traces of this grade on google earth and historic aerials. It appears it just ended in a field area, and I see no traces of any connection with the line into west branch. I am assuming this was an old logging spur and didn't realy stick around very long. I have found many other Spurs coming off the line to gladwin also. I just love that junction in pinconning or what's left of it for the line to gladwin. I hope they never remove that lil stub left of the junction. That is a piece of old rail history.
