Re: Albion interurban questions
I found Sumthing interesting by goung to the 1981 historic aerial view of Albion over the corner of Ann and Michigan st. There us d to be a sidewalk that ran on an angle next to the remnants of the existing bridge abutment that is still there. The track followed the curve of the track on the grass area right after the last house on the west side of Ann St. By about 2005 the sidewalk appears to have been removed and now u can very faintly see a scar of where the side walk cureved along side the interurban tracks on Ann street. As far as where they turned from cass st. Unto Ann street there is an empty grass area where the map shows the line turned north down Ann street. You would never suspect an interurban even ran down Ann street, cass or any of the other streets in Albion unless you knew the history of the interurban. They sure did a great job of erasing all almost all traces of it except for the suspicious abutment which is left and the corridor at the end of Williams street that runs behind bilkes parking lot and then turned west on Austin st.. Very interesting
