I was a switchman and never got for any "braking jobs" while I was on the extra board. The New Haven local was a good job and they got a fair share of overtime. They had a regular caboose assigned to the job and I think their days off were Sat/Sun, same days off for the local that went north from the Junction. I don't recall hearing any numbers assigned to them. I departed the GTW in '68. There was a conductor on 401 or 202 who on occasions had his girlfriend with him. The shades were down and the doors were locked. The two brakemen rode the head end on those occasions. Many time the regular power was a couple of F units.
