My dad forwarded me this picture from a friend of his. Apparently looking west near the 1st St overpass in Oshtemo in 1952.
I'm not an authority on signals at all, but was wondering if the signal in the distance could have been related to where the double track ended in Oshtemo at CP Oshtemo/CP 150. That would put the location a few miles east of 1st St (about halfway between the LM Ave and 8th St grade crossings) I don't think the single tracking took place until around 1958 though. Also not sure if NYC's passenger trains were still handled by steam that late?
Any signal gurus able to offer insight into whether that signal may have just been some kind of double track block signal? Or could it be an approach for the double track switch? Appears to have a larger signal head up top, and a smaller one on the other side of the mast below it. It looks like its on the north/westbound side of the main.
