He received 3 semis of chicken feed per week until that device was built. After that one railcar per week was equivalent. The feed was unloaded and then trucked to Pickford, about 15 miles away.
The only other rail activity I saw in Kinross those years was hay being loaded into boxcars. Hay was a cash crop in the eastern U.P. sold to racetracks in places like Kentucky and New Orleans.
