This thread got hijacked for the E&LS also. The track from Rockland to Ontonagon has already been abandoned and removed. Now the MDNR has ownership.
The White Pine was taken out of service after White Pine mine/mill stopped operating, so its been a few years already that the line has been idle. The Discontinuance of Service just officially takes it off the railroad map and hasn't really changed anything. Track isn't being torn up or anything. It wasn't taken out of service for bridges or anything originally, just a lack of profitable business.
