While that kind of service would be nice, does it fit with AMTRAK's mandate to provide inter-city rail passenger service? AMTRAK always seems to be short of equipment, so it might not have equipment for these. Then there's the routing. It is logical to start from Grand Rapids and run east. There's one cross-state line remaining, CSX. Does CSX have access to the terminal? Is CSX willing to have the track east of Grand Rapids inspected to meet passenger standards? Is there capacity in the Detroit area? If such service were contemplated, these are some of the items that would have to be considered.
