A CPR test train ran under symbol SPL503 on the former Michigan Central Main Line going west on 8/18/98 with CPR SD40-2’s #5431, 5639, 5612 with 30 lds 1 mty for 3049 tons. 11:55PM W Detroit, 1:55 to 2:15AM Jackson, 7:30 to 7:45AM Porter, 4:59AM on the B&O which was ahead of the window allotted to CPR trains off the C&O. David Fernald was the engineer and Scott Cole the conductor, both of whom were the local grievers for their respective unions.
