: You have goosebumps? I do now, watching that
: clip!
:
: I knew a lot of facts about L&L's stories.
: But looking at Sus' playlist, getting the
: minutia, the character motivations and
: feelings beyond the story facts, has been
: golden.
:
: My L&L intro was the 90s L&L. I started
: watching in middle school and they returned
: that same year. When that material that you
: linked aired, it made so much sense. But as
: I got to know more L&L fans, I kept hearing
: how that material wasn't true to the L&L
: from the Monty days. All I heard was how in
: step they were, both adventurers, both
: wanting the same life.
:
: Seeing this material from 81 is telling me a
: different, more rounded story. L&L always
: had compatibility issues. It didn't start
: with the kids, and Laura wanting stability
: just for them. I'm watching as 19 year old
: Laura is trying to ground her much older
: husband.
:
: Luke wants success, but he has fallen in
: love with the adventure, the danger, and
: he's PROUD of that. He wants to turn the
: boat into a floating night club, with his
: friends, and Laura doesn't want it, but she
: goes along with it for his sake. Luke spins
: Laura around, as he proclaims that he wants
: their lives to be lived at the peak, on an
: endless adventure. And you know that Laura
: loves him enough, and wants to be with him
: enough, to go for the ride. But she does NOT
: want a risky, adventure filled, unstable
: life. She can do it for Luke, but it's not
: what she craves for herself, at least not at
: all times.
:
: I now see a continuity between the early L&L
: and the one I was introduced to. And it's
: all so, so much more fluid and connected
: than I ever realized
:
: Also it's interesting to see Laura talking
: to Lucky in that clip about them being young
: adventurers, but needing to hang it up at
: some point to be more stable. Yet she's only
: 33 in that clip, and Genie's around the same
: age as Tony was when L&L were in the thick
: of their adventures.
:
: Luke got to stay "young" so much
: longer than Laura did. Which is something
: she discusses with him on Cassadine Island
: in 2000.
:
: It's all perspective.
