I much prefer the song she wrote for her Dad ~> "My Father." (please see vid below)
John Stewart & The Kingston Trio do a terrific rendition of "Someday Soon". BUT BUT BUT ---
Admittedly, I prefer Ian & Sylvia's version of "Someday Soon" penned by Ian Tyson himself. (self autobiographical?)
Prior to Ian becoming a professional musician, he worked the rodeos until a severe injury forced him to quit.
Here's Judy Collins singing "My Father":
All my sisters soon were gone
To Denver and Cheyenne
Marrying their grown-up dreams
The lilacs and the man
I stayed behind, the youngest still
Only danced alone
The color of My Father's dreams
Faded without a sound
- Judy Collins

I've always liked the Trio's version of "Someday Soon" the best. Of all the artists who've performed the song, I feel the Trio's faster pace enhances the cowboy's possible uncertainty about the future of his romance. Sorry, Judy, after hearing the Trio's version first, your version sounds plodding.

I always loved this song.
In fact, The Kingston Trio's debut album for Decca was pretty good.
I still prefer Capitol Records and Voyle Gilmore but the LP "Nick Bob John" featured a selection of real nice tunes
with the exception of "More Poems". (sorry, Mason Williams)
Ian Tyson (of Ian & Sylvia) wrote "Someday Soon" in the best Country & Western vein,
and with just a hint of autobiographical reference:
[note the strong vocal by John Stewart]
And YES Max -- The Kingston Trio were that good.
