Bob Dylan wrote the song "Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll" based on a story (Bob's girlfriend) Suze Rotolo gave him from a Newspaper article.
Bob wrote it in 1963 for his third record album (Columbia Records) entitled "The Times They Are A-Changin'."
Ironic, isn't it? Here we are six decades later, in 2025, and proof that the more things change, the more they stay the same.
The girl, 23 years old, Iryna Zarutska, from Ukraine, came to the United States to begin a new life.
She did not "sponge" off our American system. No handouts, no welfare checks, no free ride (as the saying goes).
Iryna got herself a job as a waitress at Zepedie's Pizzaria (in North Carolina).
She had a boyfriend; somebody she could love, marry, have children and start a family. All that taken away; her life stolen and future wiped out.
Not politically motivated; killed because some lowlife bum sitting behind her on a train felt like viciously stabbing Iryna in the neck.
Instead of being in jail, why was this crazy fool (with an extensive prison record) on a train?
Note: Hattie Carroll was a barmaid who served food and drinks at the table in a hotel.
Iryna Zarutska was a waitress who served pizzas and drinks at a restaurant.

Iryna Zarutska (23), who fled the war in Ukraine only to be stabbed to death in what appears to be a random attack
without provocation and without any reason on August 22nd.
Killed while riding home on a train, by a man with a history of criminal charges and psychiatric (incl violent) problems.
What The Hell Is This Monster Doing On Our Streets ???
Iryna Zarutska worked at Zepedies Pizzeria (Charlotte, NC) as a waitress, and on their website,
they honored her with an RIP Notation expressing sympathy and condolences to her Family and Friends.

Yes, and Iryna Zarutska never done nuthin' to her ("alleged") killer.
William Zanzinger killed poor Hattie Carroll.
With a cane that he twirled around his diamond ring finger.
Got killed by a blow,
Lay slain by a cane,
And she never done nuthin' to William Zanzinger.
